Amazingly the Palestinian boys would run up to the tear gas canisters as they landed and pick them up and attempt to throw them back over the Wall into Israel. Keep in mind that these canisters are burning hot and sending out plumes of extremely noxious gas. Given these realities it was amazing and inspiring to see many of the canisters get sent right back to Israel.

I said to one of the men who were with us it would be a good idea to get some gloves to protect from the burning; he told me that it was a conscious choice for the boys not to use gloves, because the act itself was really more of a right of passage and burning your hands was part of the ordeal. You can see that the boy in the red has just launched one successfully over the Wall.
